Fish, Duck, and Back

by Lachie Strummer - 09:53 on 08 August 2011

Fish

Went out fishing on Saturday with ‘herself’.
Tried dropping a darrow about half a mile off the beacon, then went further out, but with little success.
I imagine when mackerel see my hooks appearing through the gloom they look at each other and burst out laughing;
‘Does that clown really think we’re going to fall for that trick again!’
‘Hi, you up there, piss off ! If you want fish go to a fishmonger!’

Duck

There seems to be a thief in our midst!
The khaki Campbell eggs are conspicuous by there absence the last few days.
These damn rooks need sorting out.
I know just the very man - Camuscross’s answer to Clint Eastwood - he’ll make your day!
Mink, foxes - even the occasional pheasant with a wee bit too much to say - have all been in this man’s sights over the years, and not lived to tell the tale!

Back

Anyway, it’s good to be back after this Summer’s gallivanting.
Good to get the old clothes on again and get horsed into the corned beef and tatties.
I’ll be back!
