Seeds, Gold Finches and Beer

by Lachie Strummer - 11:20 on 19 April 2010

Cuckoo
Heard the first cuckoo of the year yesterday.
I suspect it was the only thing flying between Africa and Northern Europe over the last few days.

Clearing
Spent the weekend with ‘herself’ clearing brambles and rushes from one corner of the croft.
We got the earlies planted last week ; Duke of Yorks and Sharpe’s Express.
We’ll see how they go.

Finches
Put out some nyjer seed this week.
Apparently, it’s a good way to attract goldfinches to the garden.
I’ll keep you posted.

Beers
Received a visit from a couple of Saasaig hombres on Saturday evening.
They don’t usually come this far North until the beginning of May.
Anyway, they were no trouble at all.
