Hard Frost

Hard Frost
I can’t remember the last time we had such a long lasting ‘cold snap’ in the township.
Had a bit of a job getting the tractor started in these sub-zero temperatures.
I should have kept her inside.
I imagine the engine oil must be the consistency of treacle and the fuel’s probably not much better.
Anyway, with the use of a pair of jump leads and the wife’s car I got her fired up and tucked away in the shed.
If I could only find a heavy woollen blanket large enough to keep her cosy. ( the tractor, not ‘herself’ )
Christmas Day
The cove with the white beard and the red coat was his usual generous self again this year;
1 pair of slippers ( fully insured, taxed and MOT’d with 6 months warranty).
1 bottle of 12 year old Glenfiddich – he certainly knows a good dram!
Enough reading material to see out the Winter (and possibly the Spring too).
Aye, he’s a kind-hearted soul.
