Hen Trouble

Aye , it's great to have your own hens. They're great too for eating leftovers from the crofter's kitchen.
I'll never forget the time we threw them some leftover sherry trifle one fine summer's evening. They ran over with their usual enthusiasm and proceeded to devour the tasty dessert.
I thought no more of it til I looked out half an hour later. They seemed to have lost their usual confident gait and were walking somewhat erratically. Not to put too fine a point on it - they were pished!
Things seemed quite jovial til 2 hens started squaring up to each other. Maybe a casual remark had been picked up wrongly. Maybe it was 'cockerel' trouble. When they eventually settled down they slept in until half ten next morning.
Anyway, I think I'll give any leftover sherry trifle to the cat next time.That should be worth watching.
